Industry · Grocery and convenience

The queue is long and the dairy expires Thursday. The till knows both.

Scan, UPI or split tender, print, next customer. Behind the speed: earliest-expiry batches billed first, khata balances on a statement instead of in someone's head, and WhatsApp orders landing in the same stock.

Retail Desktop cash sale at a grocery till: GST per line, batch and expiry, split tender
Grocery store counter with barcode billing on MaximPro

Supermarket billing software with GST, from one kirana to a chain.

Seven in the evening, the busiest hour. A regular wants it on khata, the bread delivery was this morning, and a customer on WhatsApp wants it delivered. Six things the software has to get right.

Billing that keeps the queue moving

Scan, take cash, UPI or card or split the tender, print. Hold and recall a bill. Returns against the invoice. The till runs on a local database.

Credit customers (khata), properly

Bill regulars on credit. Every credit bill, payment and balance sits on a statement with ageing, so collection is a report, not a memory.

Reorder before the shelf is empty

Reorder levels and min/max per store, fast and slow movers, ageing. A supplier PO or a warehouse stock request from the same screen.

Expiry on dated goods

Batch and expiry at goods receipt for dairy, bread and packaged food. Earliest valid expiry billed first; near-expiry and expired reports; waste written off with loss value.

Orders over WhatsApp

Customers message the shop; the order lands in the portal. Staff assign a store, accept, upload the invoice and record full or part payment.

Your own shopper app, nearest store first

On the Enterprise tier, a branded Android app. The delivery address picks the branch; products, prices and stock come from that store.

MaximOps purchase order on a phone: item added by barcode with cost, quantity and FOC
Fast-moving lines reordered from the aisle, not the back office.

GST on every line, from the item.

Exempt staples next to taxed packaged goods: the rate comes from each item's GST mapping, line by line. GST input/output summaries support filing; MaximPro does not file returns or generate e-invoices. GST details.

Questions retailers ask us

Can we run customer credit (khata / udhaar) accounts?

Yes. Credit bills, receipts, statements and ageing are on the till and in the Cloud Portal, and in receivables.

Does it work for a single kirana store, or only chains?

Both. One store runs Retail Desktop on a one-time licence or the Store cloud tier; chains add the Chain tier for a central warehouse, store comparison and WhatsApp orders.

How does expiry work for a grocery store?

Batch and expiry are captured on receipt for the items you choose to track. Billing picks the earliest valid batch; near-expiry and expired reports show what to act on.

What payment methods does the till take?

Cash, UPI and card, including split payments, plus customer credit. Payment-method breakdowns are on the store dashboard.
